National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization noted for it’s service and excellence. The Crusader Chapter provides leadership and service opportunities for its members including sponsoring the school recycling program and Talent Show, serving as school tour guides, hosting tutoring sessions, organizing fundraisers, and providing service for school and parish sponsored events.
In order to be considered for the Crusader Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, students must display qualities representative of five characteristics: scholarship, character, leadership, service and citizenship. To qualify scholastically, a student must have a 92% grade point average in the six core subjects of Religion, Math, Language Arts, Literature, Science, and Social Studies and no unsatisfactory marks (grades below a C or U’s) in personal development or other subjects on the report card.

Induction of the new NJHS members: May 2015 5:30 pm (prospective members will receive notification prior to Spring Break)
Service Hour Opportunities:
Students in NJHS must complete 16 service hours this school year. There are events in which the school or parish may need assistance. Please let Mrs. Carver know if you plan to help out with these events for service hours. Students have received service hours log sheets and should keep track of their service hours throughout the year. Service hour sheets are due May 28.
Talent Show Rules:
Entry Deadline:
All entries are due by the end of the school day January 19 to Mrs. Carver
Number of Acts:
Maximum of 24 acts
- 8 acts from grades K-3
- 16 acts from grades 4-8
Time Limit:
K-3 acts have a time limit of 2 minutes
4-8 acts have a time limit of 4 minutes
(Timing of act begins once name is announced. Should your act have to be cut off before time is up, point deduction will occur.)

Forms and Fees:
Each student participating in the Talent Show must submit a signed entry form and $5 fee. Groups should turn all forms and money in at same time. Forms are due January 19.
Song Lyrics & Musical Selections for Dance/Sport:
All music (whether sung or used as part of act) must be school appropriate and pre-approved! Lyrics for all music should be submitted with entry form by January 19. Failure to do so may result in removal from show. If songs are longer than time limit, please indicate starting time and ending time on CD case.
Costumes:
Costumes worn for the school talent show must be appropriate costumes, per Catholic school expectations and guidelines.
Rehearsal:
Students in group acts will need to make arrangements outside of school for rehearsal/practice time. Microphones and sound system will be set up for a brief sound check from 5:45-6:15 on the night of the Talent show. Sound check is for only those students singing or playing a musical instrument in the Talent Show. All other acts should arrive at 6:20 pm.
Students:
Students performing in the talent show will be seated as a group to the left of the stage. Students are to remain quiet while other groups are performing. Failure to do so can result in point deduction or disqualification from program.
Awards:
K-3 and 4-8 will be judged as 2 separate divisions. Multiple awards will be given in each division. Only “Top 3” acts overall (K-8) will receive monetary awards.
