Classroom Rules
I. Respect Yourself-
This means that everyone is expected to give 100% effort in class. Respect yourself enough to do the best that you can and seek out extra help when it is needed. This includes bringing all materials (textbook, notebook, workbook, student planner, pens and pencils) to class each day. Being prepared plays an essential role in doing your best.
II. Respect Others–
You should show respect to your classmates and Mrs. Carver by paying attention and participating in class activities. Remain quiet when Mrs. Carver and other classmates are speaking. Do not criticize or make fun of an other student, EVER. Have a positive attitude and help out your fellow classmates when you can. When working in groups or with partners, do your share of the work and work cooperatively. Remember: Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31
III. Respect our School-
Part of respecting our school includes taking care of our facility and school property. Take special care of school property (i.e. desks, books, lockers, electronics), and always ask permission before checking out an iPad or getting on a classroom computer. All school rules apply in the classroom as well. School rules are posted in the student handbook. If a behavior issue occurs, you will receive a warning. Should the behavior continue, you will receive an infraction for the behavior and parents will be notified. Five total infractions in a quarter (from all teachers) will result in a "Needs Improvement" for conduct and a detention. For repeated discipline problems, you will be referred to the principal.
IV. Safety, Safety, Safety!–
Since this is a science classroom, some of your learning will be through experiments or lab style activities. It is very important that you follow all safety rules when working in the laboratory setting. This includes listening to ALL lab instructions! Failure to do so will result in a ZERO for the lab and removal from the classroom.
V. Complete YOUR work-
Bellwork is an assignment or activity that will be completed at the start of the class period. You should be in your seat, quiet, and working on your bellwork before the start of class. Bellwork will be displayed on the Interwrite board at the front of the classroom. When the bell rings, class has officially started and you should be in your seat and ready to begin the class period.
Homework is to be turned in on time and in the appropriate place. You will have 24 hours to turn in a missing assignment but will be penalized 20%.
You are expected to complete all work/tests on your own. Many times you will work with partners on projects, labs and assignments. Working together does not mean allowing your partner to complete the work and you copy their answers. If you are caught cheating/copying on an assignment or test, you will receive a zero. Please see Cheating policy in school handbook.
*If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make arrangements for the assignments you missed. Unless previous arrangements have been made, you will be responsible for any tests or quizzes that have been announced prior to your absence.
*You are required to keep all assignments throughout the grading period in your science folder.
