About Mrs. Carver
Hello, my name is Sarah Carver, and I am an 8th grade homeroom teacher and the middle school science teacher at Our Lady. This is my 9th year at Our Lady and my 15th year teaching science. I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Biology Education and General and Physical Sciences and from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Master’s in Education.
My husband, Brent, and I have two beautiful children that attend Our Lady. It is a blessing to be in the building with them every day and to have the opportunity to see them grow both educationally and spiritually due to the love and care of the teachers and staff at Our Lady.
8th grade is a very special year at Our Lady. With retreats, field trips, the class trip, May Crowning, 8th grade Awards Banquet, and Graduation, time goes by quickly. Students grow in Christ's love throughout the year and become closer to one another during the journey.
Along with being an 8th grade homeroom teacher, I also teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science. A benefit of being the middle school science teacher is each year is a continuation of the previous year. Very little time is wasted from year to year as we are able to pick up where we left off the year before. Student learning is built upon each year in order to ready them for high school.
Our Lady hosts a Science Fair at the end of October. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are invited to participate in the fair. Winners of the Our Lady Science Fair advance to the Deanery Science Fair at Providence High School. Our Lady has done very well at the Deanery Science Fair the last few years. I am very proud of our young scientists! See the Science Fair page for more information.
Finally, I am also the National Junior Honor Society Advisor. In the spring of a student’s 6th or 7th grade year, those eligible for NJHS are given an invitation to apply for the Crusader Chapter of NJHS. As a member of NJHS, students assist with several activities throughout their 8th grade year. Students head up our school wide Recycling service project as well as organize the school Talent Show. Our students also play an important leadership role in many school activities. See the NJHS page for more information.
